You should give this configuration a name if you’d like to reuse it later. Select ‘catalog schemas’ and browse to your Procedure / Scripted View under _SYS_BIC. From there, go to SAP HANA Stored procedure -> ‘New configuration’ and in the General Tab, select ‘Procedure to Debug’. To create a new one, either go to Run -> ‘Debug Configuration’ or Click on the drop-down arrow beside the ‘Bug’ icon and select ‘Debug Configuration’. You can skip creating a new debug configuration if you have already created one for the procedure you are debugging that you can re-use. Once you’ve switched to debug perspective, you can create a new ‘Debug Configuration’. Once you’re in the debug perspective, you can change or set the breakpoints. If the Debug perspective is not available already at the top-right corner right below the close button, then you can add it by clicking the ‘open perspective’ button.
Next step is to switch to ‘Debug Perspective’. If you do not wish to set breakpoints here, you can always do so later in the debug perspective and even during debugging. You won’t have a chance to alter the breakpoints in your first session. Keep in mind, however, that if you set breakpoints here, the debugger will start running as soon as you start your debug session. This you can do by double-clicking the space directly to the left of the script as shown below. Once you find the appropriate procedure, open it by double-clicking it. You will see the procedure listed as ‘HANA_TEST.SR/SCR_SR_TEST/proc’. Your HCV’s name will be listed here along with the package path.Įxample: package is HANA_TEST, sub-package is SR and the HCV is SCR_SR_TEST. Once you open the _SYS_BIC schema, you can locate your procedure under the ‘Procedure’ folder easily by right-clicking on it and using the filter option. If you have the proper authorizations, lets continue!įirst, it is important to know, that the system generates a procedure file in _SYS_BIC schema for all scripted views. You can read more about debugging authorizations in the blog New SQLScript Features in SAP HANA 1.0 SPS7 – specifically, the last section Debugging Authorization Concept by Rich Heilman. Please make sure that you have authorization to perform debugging the objects that you wish to debug.
